Would you click? - Scrollytelling Report

An exposure of the truth behind one of Europe’s largest-known cases of state-run phone hacking

Client:

The Citizen Lab - University of Toronto

Year:

2022

“Would you click?” is a visual story we’ve developed with our beloved team of The Citizen Lab, an interdisciplinary laboratory based at the School of Global Affairs & Public Policy of the University of Toronto that focus their research at the intersection of information and communication technologies, human rights, and global security.

The goal of this online project is to shed light on the reality behind one of Europe’s largest-known cases of state-run phone hacking happening in our hometown of Catalonia.

Even if people’s views on Catalan independence might differ, we’d like to remind everyone this is one big, shared issue that poses a major threat to fundamental rights and democracy. We’re talking about a tool at the service of governments to spy on nonprofit leaders, lawyers, journalists, relatives and even open-source software developers working on democratic participation. Anyone could virtually be affected by it. And we can all agree that this is not right.

Read it. Share it. Start a conversation that truly matters.
